May 2018
In October 2014, we formed a partnership with Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS) to tackle water security issues for the marginalised communities of Rajasthan. Working alongside this reputable NGO, we have improved Water Use Efficiency across five villages (Raipura, Bhaal, Gopalpura, Govindpura and Jaitpura) and have since begun a new project focusing on 30 additional villages in the Rivulet Arvari, Sarsa and Bhagani basin. Our most recent collaborative project with TBS focuses on raising awareness amongst local farmers and youth regarding Water Use Efficiency, whilst also installing Sprinkler and Drip Irrigation Systems to improve agriculture production.
For these local farmers, efficient drip irrigation systems are vital to ensure good grazing. Usually dependent on the increasingly erratic monsoon, by improving the efficiency of these irrigation systems, farmers are given certainty over their way of life. Now able to plan for the future, these drip irrigation systems advance potential harvests, with many benefits to follow – increased income, greater employment opportunities and food security.
The work undertaken in these regions has recognised life-changing results, and this has not gone unnoticed. Recently reported within the World Water Development Report 2018, TBS has been lauded by the United Nations for their work across Rajasthan, receiving plaudits for their low-cost community-led landscape approaches. Within the report, these methods are described as an exemplary approach to improve both groundwater recharge and surface water availability, delivering significant socio-economic and climate benefits. This outstanding recognition from the United Nations demonstrates the exceptional work TBS has undertaken to tackle water poverty in these regions, and it is a pleasure for us to have played a large part in some of their life-changing work.
Since establishing a very close partnership with TBS, we are excited to work alongside this NGO for many more projects. Once our current project with TBS is concluded in October 2022, planning a new project with TBS will be at the top of our agenda.
